Boarding Caregiver

Description

Boarding caregiver members are responsible for proper husbandry care of all boarded animals, including feeding, bathing, medicating, record keeping and the cleanliness of cages, suites and hospital areas.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical Effort: Work requires walking, lifting, and carrying pets of all sizes and occasionally lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs; requires standing and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases. May be exposed to all weather conditions.
  • Hours of work are typically 6:30/7:00am until 1:00/2:00pm and 2:00pm until 8:30/9:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides compassionate care to patients.
  • Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks.
  • Receives animals to be admitted into boarding, is responsible for their proper identification and for recording their respective locations and belongings.
  • Releases animals to their owners as directed; ensures that every animal released is clean and properly groomed prior to their release.
  • Has the ability to communicate with owners and make them feel comfortable with leaving their pet(s) in our care.
  • Can follow a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all cages, suites, and related areas; changes litter boxes and food/water bowls.
  • Can feed each animal as prescribed by the attending doctor or as the owner has requested and records appetites.
  • Can medicate each animal needing medications and charting
  • Understands the importance of prioritizing tasks and keeps oneself busy and productive during work shifts.
  • Can maintain laundry for the boarding areas as well as other areas if assistance is needed.
  • Can give baths and brush out patients.
  • Can collect urine and fecal specimens.
  • Can give toenail trims.
  • Can recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal behavior.
  • Can assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint.
  • Cleans equipment and facilities using required cleaning supplies; understands the importance of safety of use of chemicals (cleaning supplies) in our facility.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the hospital each day.
  • Understands and carries out the daily, weekly and monthly chore list to maintain the hospital cleanliness, the equipment, and overall appearance of the hospital.
  • Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.

Customer Service Representative

Description

The receptionist is the client’s first contact when calling or visiting the practice and as such represents the professional image of the practice to callers and visitors.  The receptionist answers telephones, greets clients, prepares patient charts, escorts clients and patients to exam rooms, and receives and relays client correspondence. The exceptional receptionist has the ability to diffuse negative client situations and foster client bonding.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer Service background desirable.
  • Experience with basic office functions; comfortable with Microsoft Word, typing, emailing, adapting to different software; ability to recognize that teamwork is essential for a quality practice; and ability to work as a team. Veterinarian experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of Avimark Software is preferred, but not required.
  • Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying records and equipment weighing up to 40 lbs; requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.
  • Expected hours of work are between 7:30am and 6:30pm Monday through Friday, and between 7:30am and 2:30pm on Saturdays.

Veterinary Technician

Description

The veterinary technician is the veterinarian’s primary medical support. They begin the examination procedure and continue to assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis and treatment phases.  They aide the veterinarians in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail.  They have a very significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) in good standing.
  • Previous on the job training when not a CVT.
